Adelphi University Online MSW Program

Adelphi University’s School of Social Work offers an Online Master of Social Work (MSW) degree with three distinct paths to degree completion: Traditional, MSW for Human Service Professionals and Advanced Standing. The CSWE-accredited, part-time program is geared towards busy professionals, and features a blend of compelling theoretical study and real-world training, preparing students to excel as social workers and pursue licensure.

The Traditional online MSW track is designed for students without an undergraduate social work education who are interested in entering the field and making a difference. This option requires the completion of 64 credits and 1200 hours of field education. The 64-credit program is taken part-time over the course of three years, with start dates in the fall and spring.

The MSW for Human Service Professional (HSP) track is also completed in three years. These students are currently employed in human services, and are eligible to complete an employment-based field placement. HSP students only need to complete one field placement.

The Advanced Standing online MSW track is designed for professionals with a Bachelor of Social Work and allows these students to jump straight to advanced coursework. This option can be completed part time in just 15 months, requiring 32 credits and one 600-hour field placement.

Both programs use a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction, providing students with opportunities for experiential learning. Distinguished faculty members with diverse research interests and professional backgrounds provide students with an exceptionally rich learning experience.

For the Traditional online MSW program, field practicum hours are divided into two 600-hour field placements. The Advanced Standing online MSW program requires only one 600-hour field placement. Students work with experienced faculty to find optimal field work sites which align with CSWE standards. The Adelphi School of Social Work is affiliated with more than 1,000 human service agencies throughout the New York metropolitan region.
