Texas State University – San Marcos Online MSW Program

The Texas State University San Marcos School of Social Work offers a part-time and full-time online MSW program with a concentration in Administrative Leadership for both traditional and advanced standing students. The online MSW program uses the same curriculum and syllabi as Texas State’s on-campus MSW program. The traditional standing program requires the completion of 62 credits], and the advanced standing track which requires the completion of 36 credits] to complete. The advanced standing track requires students to have earned a bachelor of social work from a CSWE accredited undergraduate program.

Texas State’s online MSW program requires the completion of 900 hours of field education for traditional standing students and 540 for advanced standing students. Field placement hours are divided across several semesters, and also incorporate a field seminar during which students discuss their field experiences with faculty and fellow students.

Application requirements include a statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, a professional resume, and transcripts of all college and graduate coursework. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, and have maintained a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 for their undergraduate coursework..

Texas State University’s online MSW program is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Texas State is also regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Texas State University is now able to accept student enrollments from all states, except Alabama.
