The University of Central Florida’s School of Social Work offers a part-time, traditional standing online MSW program with concentrations in Behavioral Health and Child Welfare Services. The program is comprised of 63 course credits and 1000 hours of field practicum, which students can complete over the course of three years, or nine semesters.
Field practicum hours are divided into two separate internships, which students complete during their second and third years in the program. The first field placement is a 400-hour generalist placement consisting of about 10 hours of work weekly, while the second advanced clinical placement involves about 13 hours of work per week, totaling 600 hours for the year. For both placements, the UCF School of Social Work manages the placement of students in agencies within their area. Throughout the completion of their field practicums, students receive guidance from their field instructor, and also attend an online integrative seminar during which they discuss, evaluate, and analyze their experiences in the field.
UCF’s online MSW program does not currently accept students from Minnesota, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon and Tennessee.
