University of New England (UNE) Online MSW Program

The University of New England’s (UNE) School of Social Work offers an online Master of Social Work (MSW) program that is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), the only organization that accredits MSW programs in the United States. The online MSW program has tracks for both traditional standing students and advanced standing students (those who have completed a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from a CSWE accredited undergraduate program).

The online MSW program at UNE has courses that are 100% online (no campus visits are required) and the majority of instruction is asynchronous.

For field education at UNE, students have an active role in choosing their own field placements; they are not matched to an agency as is the case for some other online MSW programs. This helps to ensure that students find the best-fit for them in terms of both an agency and a field instructor. This is advantageous for students who would prefer to complete their field education in a specific type of agency and/or in a particular location (for example close to public transportation). To help with the process, students work with a field planner, who is a full-time field education faculty member at UNE.

UNE’s online MSW programs are regionally accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
