Delaware State University (DESU) Online MSW Program

Delaware State University (DESU) offers an entirely online MSW program with one concentration in Advanced Generalist Practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. DESU’s online program has both Full-Program and Advanced Standing tracks. The advanced courses build upon the core foundation year competencies and practice behaviors of acquired knowledge, values, and skills as well as demonstrate the integration and application of the core and advanced competencies in practice with individuals, families, groups, and communities.

Full-Program Track

DESU’s Full-Program online MSW program is comprised of 60 credits, which are divided into 48 credits of academic coursework, and 12 credits of supervised field practicum. Students can complete the Full-program track in 2 years of full-time study, or 3 years of part-time study. The Full-program track is divided into the Foundation Courses segment and is comprised of 30 credit classes such as Social Welfare Policy and Services as well as Human Behavior and the Social Environment. The Advanced segment is comprised of 30 credits that cover topics such as Generalist Practice, Theories of Personality and Adult Psychopathology, and Administration, Management, and Supervision.

Advanced Standing Track

The Advanced Standing online MSW track is composed of 30 credits, broken down into 24 credits of academic classes and 6 credits of field practicum. Advanced standing students can complete the program in 12 months of full-time study.

The Graduate Social Work Program received full accreditation status from the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) in 2004 through 2020.
