The University of Iowa (UI) offers a 3-year, part-time, online MSW program. To complete the 60 credit online program, students should be able to manage time wisely as well as communicate effectively in an online classroom. Basic technical skills are also necessary for the online setting. Students must exhibit strong reading and writing skills as well as motivation to work in a self-paced environment.
UI used a cohort model of approximately 25 students. Students living in the same area meet locally twice a year to work with local social workers.
