Online MSW Programs with No GRE Requirement

Several MSW programs are offered online and do not require the GRE or any other standardized test. Other programs only require the GRE if an applicant’s GPA is below a certain threshold. Finally, some programs require the GRE for all applicants, regardless of GPA.

On OnlineMSWPrograms.com, we classify any program that requires two or fewer on-campus visits per year as an online program. The requirements for the GRE among current online MSW offerings are broken down as follows.

How common is the GRE for online MSW admissions?

Online MSW programs generally fall into two buckets: programs that do not require the GRE, and programs that only require the GRE under certain conditions (most commonly when an applicant’s undergraduate GPA falls below a school-specific cutoff). Because admissions policies change regularly, applicants should confirm GRE requirements on each program’s official admissions page before applying.
